EXPERIMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF A TROCHOIDAL PROPELLER WITH HIGH- ASPECT-RATIO BLADES

The results from experiments to obtain the hydrodynamic thrust, torque and efficiency of a model of a cycloidal-type propeller with a trochoidal blade motion are presented. The propeller had three blades with an aspect ratio of 10. The experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions using a multiple stream-tube theory based on hydrofoil section data in steady flow.
