UPPERSTRUCTURE OF A 140-TON FLOATING CRANE

The Soviet-built 140-ton SEVASTOPOLETS floating cranes have replaced the 100-ton CHERNOMORETS floating cranes. This article presents a list of the main characteristics of the SEVASTOPOLETS crane and a very detailed description of its upperstructure as installed on the bow of a self-powered pontoon. The full-swing electric boom crane with a boom luffing block and tackle mechanism, and with gear to lay it in a horizontal position for travel, was designed in compliance with USSR Registry rules. Drawings and photos of the crane and its upperstructure are shown.
