COAST GUARD ROLE IN MARINE VAPOR CONTROL

The U.S. Coast Guard is playing an active role in the implementation of marine vapor control requirements. The nature of this role is described, with the following aspects covered: (1) basic research in vapor control system safety; (2) policy development with respect to ensuring safety; (3) communication of policy to state and local authorities; (4) the development of regulations; (5) the review of systems developed and installed prior to regulation development; and (6) the development of international standards.
