AREA SURVEY: CANADA
Five articles comprise this feature on Canada. "Living with Different Domestic Arrangements" describes how the domestic container market in Canada has been stable for some time, but some important changes are beginning to take shape. "Seeing Double?" discusses the introduction of double-stack cars between Vancouver and Toronto/Montreal, and the role of double-stack in Canada. "Slicing the Intermodal Cake" tells how Canada's leading container ports are caught in the same struggle as their U.S. counterparts for gateway status in relation to overlapping hinterlands. "Diverse Business" is about the involvement of Canadian cargo handling equipment suppliers in some sophisticated projects and about their active exploration of new opportunities. The last article, "Waiting at the Crossroads," concerns the uncertain future that faces Canadian container manufacturers.
