The Salvage Association whose activities are described, was founded in 1856 and is best known for its services in surveying hull damage. The organization's headquarters are in London, but its surveyors are permanently based overseas at 27 branch offices in 16 different countries, as well as at two branch offices in the UK. The association also has a wholly owned subsidiary, Rush Johnson Associates, which was formed in 1952 to serve the special needs of the oil and gas industries and provides adjusting, appraising and surveying services worldwide out of three offices in London, Houston and Aberdeen.
