DECCA NAVIGATOR--PAST AND PRESENT COVERAGE
Marine radio navigation systems fall into three categories, based on their maximum usable range. The Decca Navigator system is the leading system in the short range category, with some 100,000 users in 1988. The history of Decca, which was conceived in 1937, is summarized and the current operation and status of the system are reviewed.
