SEPARATE PROBLEMS: COMMON SOLUTION. 'TEUROMAX'--A MERCHANT/LOGISTICS SHIP
The British Government will soon have to address the need for a ready reserve fleet as well as the necessity for replacing some of its aging logistics ships. As a partial solution to these twin problems, the author proposes a plan for a Teuromax vessel. The Teuromax, which is based on a ro-ro/lo-lo design concept, would also carry catamaran modules on the weather deck to serve as accommodation spaces for troops, thus making the ship capable of performing both merchant marine and military functions.
