NEW-STYLE JAPANESE CRUISE LINERS
The designs of two new highly-developed Japanese-built cruise liners are described. The first is an NYK international cruise ship intended to compete with top-class European and American vessels. Its length will be about 240.00m. There will be some 500 cabins. Passenger capacity will be 960 and the crew complement about 460. Propulsion will be diesel-electric twin screw, and speed about 22 knots. The second design is that of the FUJI MARU, a MOL/MOPAS luxury passenger ship that is 167.00m long oa, has 164 cabins, capacity for 603 passengers and a crew of 111. The ship has low- speed diesel powering and is capable of 20 knots.
