DAMATIC MARINE SYSTEM--A TOTAL INTEGRATED AUTOMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM CONCEPT

The Damatic Marine System produced by Valmet Automation AS is described. Many ships are now sailing with six to eight different systems on board to cover the requirements for automation and control. The Damatic Marine System was introduced in 1982 to provide a solution in the form of a uniform multifunctional system for these purposes. Since then, the system has been further developed to the point where, in addition to the UMS Monitoring and Alarm System that constitutes its basic component, the following functions can be integrated: temperature control system; diesel starters; generator power automation; stand-by starter/motor control; ballast control system; cargo monitoring and control system; ship performance monitoring; a maneuvering recorder system; and a ship operation report system.
