THE VASA 22/26 AUXILIARY ENGINE
Following the introduction of Wartsila Diesel's Vasa 46 engine, the company has developed a new auxiliary engine, the Vasa 22/26, to supply all the power needed aboard large vessels. The new engine is described, and pictured in a schematic. An output chart shows how the 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder models comply with the generally-accepted output figures for auxiliary engines in general cargo ships. The discussion centers on good atomization of the fuel supply, the assured sufficiency of the oxygen supply, the stability of the flame plate, and the use of an uncooled injection nozzle.
