MONOHULL RESEARCH VESSEL SEAKEEPING AND CRITERIA
The seakeeping performance of several classes of monohull research vessels is measured against the Navy's seakeeping criteria for its new AGOR 23-class research vessel. Specific facets of seakeeping response that are evaluated include roll, pitch, slam, heading, wetness, and lateral and vertical acceleration. A critique of the AGOR 23 criteria is presented, and suggestions are made for increasing the clarity and usefulness of such criteria.
