This article looks at the market in submarine passenger transport, judging it as being about to experience a significant expansion. The submarines used are small vessels of less than 100 tons. They cruise at under two knots and the largest carries fewer than 50 passengers. The appeal of the underwater cruising that they offer is steadily growing and they have become an established tourist attraction from the Caribbean to the central Pacific. Technology is progressing and new geographic areas--such as the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Great Barrier Reef--are planned for service.
