A description is given of a newly-created computerized system that provides engineers with information and advice on high-temperature alloy corrosion by gases. Some aspects of the system resemble concepts incorporated into expert systems, but because it is intended to be used only as a supplement, rather than a replacement, in relation to the responsibilities of the corrosion engineer, it is termed an "advice system." Its uses include assisting in alloy selection, designing equipment, analyzing failed components and studying alloy corrosion.
