DIMENSIONAL AND SIMILITUDE ANALYSIS OF SPRAY BLISTER SHEET FROM PRISMATIC PLANING MODELS
A spray sheet forms forward of the stagnation line of a planing hull, affecting hull drag. In model tests, the water surface tension stabilizes the spray sheet. A "spray blister" forms and provides an easily measured trace of the spray trajectory. This paper presents the results of an analysis of the spray sheet blister. The analysis was based on similarity and dimensional methods and intended as a contribution to the understanding of the planing hull spray itself.
