THE IDEAL NAVAL SHIPYARD
The Shipyard Operations Review Team (SORT) was formed at the direction of the Commander, U.S. Naval Sea Systems command to analyze the operation of the eight naval shipyards. One of the most interesting concepts to result from the SORT experience was that of "The Ideal Shipyard." It was the criterion against which the performance of each shipyard was analyzed. The attributes of the ideal shipyard are defined and discussed in detail.
