OFFSHORE FLOATING TERMINALS

Various types of floating terminals used for transferring materials from ocean-going vessel to conveyances for bringing them ashore are discussed. Current state-of-the-art, with particular reference to the oil industry, includes bow moorings, semisubmersibles, and hulks used for storage. New concepts reviewed involve various decoupling systems to improve stability under wave action, underwater components, floating piers, with or without associated storage structures.
