RICE HULL ASH CEMENT... HIGH QUALITY, ACID-RESISTING

Converting a low-value material into valuable industrial products with particular appeal to rice-growing, developing countries is on benefit of rice hull cement. Dr. Mehta describes another that he considers qually important. "Every 5 tons of milled rice produces 1 ton of hulls. This presents a staggering disposal problem in all rice-producing countries, since worldwide yearly rice harvest exceeds 300 million metric tons. "About half of the 60 million ton hull stockpile is used as animal feed, fuel, and poultry and livestock beding, but the remaining tonnage largely has been field burned, a process which pollutes the air and many cause serious lung diseases, such as silicosis."
