PROGRAMME OF APPLIED RESEARCH SHIPWIDE INFORMATION DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION SYSTEM
The development of a Shipwide Information Distribution and Collection System (SIDAC) is described. The primary purpose of SIDAC is to provide a total shipboard data information system that offers maximum flexibility with minimum maintenance costs. The paper outlines the specifications of the system; explains how data can be collected, displayed and analyzed; and indicates how SIDAC will meet the requirements of changing ship tasks and operations.
