INVESTIGATION OF THE PROCESS BY WHICH ACTIVE CHLORINE IS EXTRACTED BY ELECTROLYSIS OF SEAWATER

One way to produce the active chlorine most often used when waste water or drinking water is being purified and disinfected is by electrolysis of seawater solutions. This article investigates the effects of electrolysis parameters on active chlorine yield when the salt contents of the treated solutions vary. The purpose is to identify principles that enable selection of optimal electrolysis parameters and electrode dimensions for electrochemical shipboard waste water treatment plants to produce the required active chlorine concentration.
