AN ANATOMY OF PORT DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION: SURVEYS AND INVESTIGATIONS

This is the third article in the series "An Anatomy of Port Design and Implementation." It focuses on the critical importance of marine surveys and ground investigations to optimize the design of a new port or an extension to existing facilities. The techniques and analytical methods available for conducting these needed investigations of site bathymetry, tides, waves, currents, seabed features, sediment movement and ground condition--are also reviewed.
