RATING THE RELIABILITY OF MACHINERY CONTROL SYSTEMS IN THE KAPITAN PETKO VOIVODA-CLASS SHIPS

The purpose of this article is to present the results of an analysis of the reliability of ship machinery automatic control systems after 7 to 10 years of operation. The control systems are those of the KAPITAN PETKO VOIVODA-class ships built from 1975 through 1978, 13,500 dwt dry cargo ships that sail the Bulgaria-Far East route. The basic source of information for the analysis was the reports filed by ship electrical engineers on failures in control system elements. The studies covered the compressed air system, ballasting-drainage system, boiler plant, air conditioning system, separators, refrigerating system and emergency warning systems.
