THE EVOLUTION OF CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR HIGH-POWER MARINE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANTS

The extensive electrification of basic ship machinery and gear has necessitated an increase in the voltage of marine electric generating plants and improvements in the plant elements that facilitate the generation, transformation, distribution, and consumption of electricity. The author discusses ways of achieving these improvements, focusing on the use of cybernetic control methods and automation systems that contain digital computers.
