EXPERIENCE ORGANIZING AND A METHOD TO ENSURE ERGONOMIC DESIGN OF SHIP EQUIPMENT

The importance of ergonomic design in ship equipment is quite widely recognized, but the transition from recognition to implementation is quite complicated. The basic theoretical difficulty is the lack of an agreed-upon method for rating the ergonomic component of objects designed and the inability to formally describe the set of designs and prototypes from which the best alternative is to be selected. An approach to a solution is suggested in the form of an active and evolving system called EAS that supports the iterative process of ergonomic design.
