MECHANIZING DEVICES FOR A 1,500-TON-CAPACITY FLOATING DOCK

Non-self-contained metal pontoon box docks being built in series in the USSR for docking and all types of repair are described and illustrated. The general arrangement of the dock is shown, as are the manner of admitting a ship into the dock, the walking scaffolding, the dock support structure, the device for dismantling or installing a propeller-rudder complex, and the wind protection structures. The emphasis is on mechanization to increase productivity and reduce the time spent in the docks by ships under repair.
