A BIG RESEARCH VESSEL DELIVERED FROM THE HOLLMING SHIPYARD

The layout and equipment of the 6,600 ton scientific research vessel AKADEMIK SERGEY VAVILOV are described. The vessel is the first of two sisterships ordered by V/O Sudoimport and was recently delivered by Rouma-based Hollming Ltd. Finland, to the USSR Academy of Sciences. The ship accommodates 128 crew and research team members. It can go on expeditions of up to 20,000 nautical miles without replenishing food or fuel.
