COUPLED ROLL AND HEAVE MOTIONS OF SURFACE EFFECT SHIP IN BEAM SEAS

A method for calculating coupled roll and heave motions of a surface effect ship in regular beam seas is presented. The calculation is based on nonlinear differential equations of motion and shows good agreement with results obtained from model experiments. According to the authors, this work provides the theoretical background for establishing the transverse stability criterion for surface effect ships.
