NEW TECHNOLOGY ORC-PLANT FOR HEAT RECOVERY OF DIESEL ENGINES

This paper traces the development of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) plant for the recovery of waste heat from diesel engines. The prime mover of the ORC plant is a high-speed, gas-lubricated turbo generator feedpump. Results of tests with a prototype ORC plant are discussed, and the plant is compared with a conventional heat recovery system with regard to operational costs and efficiency.
