SPEED AND POWER PREDICTION FOR TOWAGE OF LARGE STRUCTURES
The planning process for the ocean towage of large vessels and offshore structures requires that there be information on the required speed/tow force, the tug power and the fuel consumption. This paper presents (1) a concise outline of the governing factors in tow performance and (2) calculation procedures for the prediction of required power or achievable tow speeds.
