A CALCULATING METHOD OF TEMPERATURE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ARMATURE OF A TRACTION MOTOR

To calculate temperature rise in several portions of an armature of a traction motor; the armature is divided into 5 portions and the heat flows in it are simulated by an equivalent circuit with the same lumped constants as the electrical circuit. The present studies are made to determine the various thermal constants of the armature, the losses and the heat capacities which are necessary to calculate an armature temperature rise in designing the motor. The temperature rise curves for several portions of an armature at arbitary operating conditions of the motor can thus be estimated by differential equations about the equivalent circuit.
