FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR CONCEPT 2 TUG (ARTUBAR SINGLESCREW)
The objective of this project was to check the technical feasiblility of a design for an Artubar type singlescrew tug for propelling a 47,000 dwt barge at a service speed of 18 knots. The check was made on the basis of preliminary design sketches and calculations prepared only in sufficient depth to establish with reasonable certainty that the design is feasible and technically attainable. The check was not extensive enough to provide assurance that the design would ultimately be approved by the U.S. Coast Guard or that it is economically practical.
