PERSISTENT MARINE DEBRIS--CHALLENGE AND RESPONSE: THE FEDERAL PERSPECTIVE
This brochure covers such topics as sources and types of marine debris; the threat of marine debris to wildlife; effects on human health, vessel safety, and the coastal economy; state and federal government effort to address the problem; and activities by the private sector and environmental groups aimed at reducing the extent of persistent marine debris. Recommendations of a federal Interagency Task Force for combating the problem are also presented.
