A LIQUID GAS TOWN BUS

EIN FLUESSIGGAS-STADTOMNIBUS

The advantages of liquid gas (propane/butane) as a fuel for vehicle otto engines - its higher calorific value, its greater anti-knock performance, more uniform distribution of the mixture in multiple cylinder engines, its good cold-starting behaviour because of its lower boiling temperature, and no lubricant dilution - have long been known. The city bus developed by the firm steyr-daimler-puch, which has an otto engine converted for liquid gas, is revolutionary as regards harmful emissions and exhaust odour, and fulfils not only the Austrian regulations on exhaust fumes, but also the strictest international standards. /TRRL/
