FIRST RUSSIAN DESIGNED DSV
The delivery to the Soviet Union of its first purpose built and designed diving support vessel, the SKAT, is scheduled for May 1988. The vessel, which this article describes, is 91.8 m long. Its beam is only 17 m to allow passage through the waterways leading to its intended area of operation, the Caspian Sea. The vessel is equipped with the latest technological advances that have emerged from the experience of such vessels in the North Sea.
