Theoretical economics of a transportation concept developed for bulk carriers, utilizing wind energy instead of conventional propulsion means. The rationale behind the use of sails to capture wind energy instead of using steam, diesel or other forms of propulsion is given, and descriptions are also supplied of the sails, masts furling equipment, and the sail/mast control system, which would be controlled by a computer. The speed at which this ship could be propelled is also calculated for given angles to wind at given Beaufort numbers.
