INSTITUTE'S PROFESSIONAL FORUM
Procedures and systems for air and marine separation assurance are compared. Discrete lane area navigation, pilot warning indicators and collision avoidance systems are discussed. It is recommended that a cooperative collision avoidance system be developed for marine use, and that satellite technology be applied to the precision navigation requirements of coastal confluence area, and channel traffic management. A need for lower cost equipments for general aviation is stressed.
