CHARACTERISTICS OF POLYAMIDEIMIDE FILM

Developing a film of polyamideimide resin, the authors studied the film's general characteristics and electrical properties, for the latter, using model coils. Even when subjected to heating at a temperature of 240 degrees C for 20 days continuously, the polyamideimide film showed practically no drop either in tensile strength or dielectric strength. Over a wide temperature range, also, it indicated stable dielectric characteristics. Tests with a model coil proved that insulation layers of the polyamideimide film can be made far thinner than conventional mica insulation layers. Moreover, having such additional advantages as higher resistances to irradiation and chemicals, the new film can be used profitably in synchronous machines, induction motors, DC machines, and transformers.
