COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR DETERMINATION OF REQUIRED PROPULSIVE POWER AT INITIAL STAGE OF SHIP DESIGN: METHOD OF HOLTROP AND MENNEN
A computer program for power prediction is presented together with samples of input and output. The appendix describes a method for improving the prediction of propulsive power requirements for high- block ships with low length-beam ratios and for thin naval ships with a complex appendage arrangement and immersed transom sterns. Highlighted in the description are formulae for prediction of a ship's total resistance, prediction of propulsion factors, and estimation of propeller efficiency.
