COMPUTER AIDED PIPE SKETCHING
Du Pont's computer-aided pipe-sketching system permits technicians to quickly produce many sketches. It also can compile data and organize it to produce the optimum design for a piping system. A computer which has already been programmed with industry standards, company specifications preferred methods of fabrication, etc., is fed a pipeline's origin, route, destination, and necessary components. The computer selects the most economical materials, the best building procedures, and important engineering details and summarizes this information in graphic form. This system realizes a saving of about thirty dollars per sketch.
