THERMOCOUPLES FOR ABOVE 1500 DEGREES CENTIGRADE MADE OF NOBLE AND REFRACTORY METALS
Above 1,500 deg C, ISA Types R and S platinum thermocouples are not suitable for continuous service, but many materials can be combined into thermocouples satisfactory for 1,500 to 3,000 deg C. The authors describe characteristics of thermocouples composed of platinum, rhodium and iridium; tungsten, rhenium and other refractory metals--in many combinations of elements, alloys and compounds.
