Methods of deriving an L10db(a) value of loudness from measurements taken by a hand-held noise meter are hand worked and compared in detail to each other and to a predicted L10db(a) value for five roadside locations. The noise analysis methods are the statistical frequency distribution, the statistical cumulative distribution and an iterative technique derived by the author. The prediction method is that of the national physical laboratory described in their Acoustics Report AC57. /TRRL/
