THE USE OF THE NON-WOVEN MATERIAL BIDIM IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

L'EMPLOI DU NON TISSE BIDIM DANS LES TRAVAUX PUBLICS

Bidim is a non-woven polyester cloth which can be used as an anti-contamination layer and a layer for load distribution in road construction. It has the following properties: (1) very high resistance to failure, tearing and punching; (2) filtering property; (3) rot-proof property; (4) insensitivity to most chemical agents. Because of these qualities, it can be utilized in the building of embankments and pavements on low-quality soil, for protecting the improved subgrade, river and canal banks and sides of dams, for filtering and draining purposes, and for treatment of sewage. /TRRL/
