PROPHETS OF THE PALLET
The Unit Load Council was created for the purpose of "promoting the use of the unit load concept throughout Europe. The council serves as the gathering point of information and as a medium for the exchange of ideas. Recently the council published a 50 page booklet written by S.A. Lamain on the unitized transport of goods. The booklet stresses the monetary savings that can result from savings in time, labor, and materials when unitized transport is employed. It is pointed out that pallets and skids have a great advantage over containers in that no special vessel need be built for their transport. The booklet spotlights areas where the unit load can best contribute to cost savings. In concluding remarks the council strongly backs the adoption of the standardized 100 cm times 120 cm pallet.
