TIMBER AND TRUSS BRIDGES - - A BYGONE ERA

A short history is given of timber and truss bridges in Wyoming. Though they are now obsolete, timber bridges were once the mainstay of bridge building. Availability of the materials made timber bridges economical, thereby freeing limited highway funds for road construction. Recently, plate girder bridges have taken the place of timber and truss bridges, as they are less expensive to build and are essier to widen.
