ECONOMIC ANALYSIS: METHODS OF USING THIS DESIGN TOOL

One of the most vital tools for the designer today, to achieve a practical design, is economic analysis, and this technique has particular relevance to the evaluation of alternative arrangements and specifications of equipment. This article points out the various methods that can be used, and where they are applicable, together with the types of error that can be made. It also contains an example of such a study for low- and medium-speed machinery. (Author)
