ON THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF A CABLE SYSTEM IN A RECOVERY OPERATION

An experimental and analytical study is made on the behavior of a cable system used for salvage recovery of objects embedded in ocean sediments or in handling structures placed on the ocean bottom. Both steady-state and transit vibrations are considered. The possibility of snap loads in the system is explored.
