COPPER ALLOYS FOR SHIPS PROPELLERS

Ships' propellers are invariably cast due to their weight and complex section. Copper alloys are used since they are amenable to the extensive machining required for achieving dimensional accuracy in the cast product and can be repaired by welding. It also has enhanced resistance to corrosion fatigue.
