PACIFIC RIM TRANSTECH CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS. VOLUME II. DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A GIS-BASED FTIMS
The development is described of a geographic information system (GIS)-based freeway traffic information management system (FTIMS) for the Sun Yat Sen National Freeway in Taiwan. The study used a 2-stage analytical hierarchy process to investigate freeway management information needs to rank the priority order for system modules development. The study found that traffic volume is the most needed information. GENMAP GIS software was employed to develop the system.
