ROADSIDE SAFETY - A FUNCTION OF AGENCY PERSPECTIVE
The purpose of this paper is to present a case for the greater utilization of existing resources toward a better understanding of the causes of roadside accidents and the potential for improved remedial measures. The following topics are dealt with: Identification of locations meriting remedial action; The roadway as an element in roadside accident causation; Need for attention to roadside accidents; Urban roadside safety; Tort liability claims against the government agency; and Engineering competence/performance in roadside safety.
