REHABILITATION OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGES BUILT BY THE CANTILEVER METHOD IN ITALY
The Italian Government Agency, ANAS, which manages all the main roads in Italy, is presently carrying out an extensive programme of rehabilitation of the 264 main bridges located along the A3 highway. Among these bridges there are some large prestressed concrete (pc) viaducts built by the cantilever method which have suffered unacceptable deflections, mainly due to creep. The paper reports the inspection and repair of two of these bridges: the Stupino and Ruiz viaducts, spanning over 120 m and with piers up to 150 m high.
