DIGIPLOT: A FULLY AUTOMATIC RADAR DATA PLOTTER
A collision-avoidance system developed by the Iotron Corp., of Bedford, Massachusetts, can display up to 40 ships in a 12-mile radius on a Digiplot screen; the screen provides automatic acquisition of echoes from any conventional radar, automatic computation, and graphic display of all the information needed by the observer. Digiplot, the result of two years of development work, is believed to be today's most advanced but straight- forward fully automatic radar data plotting system. It claims to present information to a navigator in the chart-like form he has been trained and accustomed to understand. Further, the system offers preference controls which on command, instantly provide the information needed, regardless of congestion or weather conditions.
